It was time to take the Tundra to the dealer for an oil change and the check engine light came on. Once at the dealer, I requested an oil change and told the service writer the check engine light came on. The service tech checked it out and advised me that the cat converter had gone bad. Was wondering if anyone else has had this experience?

It's not very common, but I've seen it before. It's possible that you got a bad batch of fuel, or you might have a defective cat. It's also possible that the cat failure is a bogus code, and that the real problem is a faulty O2 sensor. I've seen that before too.

Either way, at least it's warranty.
