i want to lower the back of my truck people ask if its 4 wd i want to be sure it looks 2 wd and sporty. i was told i can take a leaf spring out, but i am curious as to the ride quality and if it will assist in any damage

well actually I was at the shop the other day and was asking some ASE certified mechanics if it is possible to drive with only one leaf spring, or none, they said yes y not? Like I was dumb for asking! I told them what tony said how, "seems like it would be an adventure in automotive engineering" they laughed and said they see it all the time when people want there cars low and cant afford to get them lower then they want(lower drop) they just remove leaf springs, they said its a horrible ride! They also said, why on earth would someone lower a truck? I laughed and quickly changed the subject!

that's not exactly what i was talking about. You said your friend removed ALL his leaf springs. Not removed 1 or 2 of them. Removing one or two is not the best way to do things but not-at-all unheard-of either. Removing them ALL is a whole different thing and thats what i have been curious to see pictures of.

The springs not only serve as the load bearing portion of the truck's back end but also hold your axel in place.. so them not being there would make for a spectacular spectator sport during the inital take off but not be all that functional.
