I was told by my sales guy that their service department recommended alternating e85 tanks with straight gasoline. He didn't know why. This is the first I had heard of this? e85 in Denver can be quite a bit less expensive, so I'd rather avoid alternating if I can.

Because if you run E85 50% or more of the time, toyota recommends changing the engine oil every 2500 miles instead of the normal 5K. It has something to do with the E85 components/blend can cause in the long run engine damage or at the very least engine oil to break down quicker, or so they say. I bet you running E85 all the time for 2-3 months straight if you check your gas mileage, it is getting about 25% less in fuel economy (say 12-14 mpg vs. 17-18 mpg average) agree??? If so, your E85 gas has to be 25% cheaper than E10 and right now with gas prices low, it is not that much difference. Some farmers here in the midwest think there will be a shortage of food supply with corn in the future if people keep using E85 gas which is NOT the solution to resolving our problem with dependence on foreign oil. My chevy hated E85 and with the crappy difference in gas mileage, it wasn't worth it.
