"Clunk "from the transmission portion of the drive train when shifting from 2nd to 3rd.

Symptoms: when the transmission shifts from 2nd to 3rd I hear and feel a "clunk " sound coming from the transmission. I have ruled out the solenoid that auto locks the doors. It's not RPM related. It only happens when the truck is first started up and driven. I can shut the truck down, after initial startup, and try to re-create the problem with out success. If I shut the truck down and wait 20 or 30 minutes I can then re-creat the problem. I have had Toyata service techs in the truck and they have heard the problem but their diagnostic computers tell them nothing is wrong. This happens at preciesly 15 mph. My truck is an 07 with a towing package and a 5.7 liter. Any comments that can help the clowns in the Toyata service center would be greatly appreciated. The transmission is a 6 speed auto.

I will assume your trip yesterday to the dealer didn't go so well.

Get their lead tech and I bet he can figure it out. They probably have the recent grads looking at your truck. Not everything can be diagnosed by a computer. And keep going back until they find the problem.

Problem is that the service dept here is an experimental one. They are converting it over to a "Super" dealership, only 2 others in the world exsist like this one. But they are building it now and I would say that 80 percent of the building is being rebuilt. When thay are done it will have the biggest interiour for a dealership that I have ever seen, and they will only sell Toyotas out of it. From my understanding, when the building is complete they are sending some Uber techs to train everyone. I could be wrong but it all makes sense. They are gutting a building the size of a super walmart to be the dealership. I will keep everyone posted as it comes together.

Thanks Tx Tee. I went over again this morning and was able to create the problem 5 times in a row for them. When I left they had 1 tech inside my truck riding the lift up and another standing under it trying to pinpoint the problem. At least they are trying something other than a diagnostic from a computer.

The verdict is in. Its the ABS pump engauging at that speed.
I test drove 2 trucks on the lot and could create the sound again. Mine is much louder than those so it still dosen't seem quite right.
