Would it be possible to change the led's in the gauge cluster to a different color?

How did you get to the LED's on your steering wheel, and what size are they?

Hey that pic is of my truck I'll be doing TXTee's truck in December when I get back to Houston, it should take me about a day to do, If there is anyone else that wants to get in on it just let me know and we can maybe set something up

I didn't take any pics when I was doing the steering wheel, but If you will follow this mod then you'll be able to do it

It takes a #3 phillips head and a T30 torx head

as far as the LED's go I just used the axials like the rest of the truck these are the mid sizes SMD's look like they are about 2mm to me it took 8 and these are wired in sequence just like the 4X4 switch so if one is wrong then several won't work and both sets of switches have to be pluged for any of the lights to work

remember you don't have to take the airbag out or even disconnect it just move it up out of the way so that you can get to the rest of the controls as needed

that's all i have left. Thats the reason i havn't taken my pictures yet. and i currently have blue needles too. Almost to much blue. I'm going to order some white for the needles and the ac knobs so i can have a little contrast in there.

So TX... did you bite the bullet and do them yourself or did you bring them somewhere?

Did you do your radio, or do have a screen. I have the JBL and don't know if I can take that apart too.

If you look at the pic about that's mine I painted my needles white and then back lit with a blue led so it gives that kind of fade effect you see in the pic I also wanted to try and do a set with multicolor led's so that the needles change colors the more they move and then backlight the gauges with a contrasting color so that as the needles change you would still have contrast on the guages

you would only really be ale to do it with the rpm and spedo needles if you are just doing a 1 to 1 swap but i considered that as well when i had mine broken down. If i could order less that 15 at a time in those led's i certainly would try. I just can't see ordering 45 LEDs. (15 each of 3 different colors) to only use 3 of each color. And that's not to mention the contrast colors for the gauges themselves.....unless you can work the contrast color as a color the needle is at another point on the gauge...... i dunno. It could work. would have to try to get a good feel though, might make the gauges too busy.

Did you ever try to change the radio LEDs? It would be nice to match the AC. controls below it.

Have had an aftermarket radio in my truck since the second day i had it so i never had a need to try. That being said.. i have a radio that i can't hurt if i mess it up so i may try to tear it down just to see what's in there and if it's swappable.

I'm in the process of moving right now but one i am done hopefully i can get a decent work bench set up and that would be a nice project to break it in.

I would appreciate the info. so that I can get the correct leds before disasembling mine.
I'll let you know when i get a chance to tear it down
Guys - I can't take credit for TXRos' work. He's a member of a regional Gulf Coast site and will be doing my instrument panel next month. I'll see if I can get him to join on here today and give the info first hand. Here's a link to his threads on the topic...he may eventually post the info for the steering wheel portion in there: http://gulfcoasttundras.forumotion.com/int-ext-lighting-f13/ac-cont...
