It's removing mini LEDs that are like the size of a pepper seed (sorry, couldn't think of anything else to compare it with) and then soldering them back onto the board.
OH FUN! Do they come with a free bottle of arsenic. Unless you have a micro solderer and I mean a MIcro solderer, not a micro tipped solder pen, don't do it. You will beg for someone to kill you.
I have a whole soldering station complete with moveable clamp arms and a adjustable iron with solder spool. The Lexus of soldering set ups, There is no way in hell I would attempt that. I could see me get about 3 LEDs into this project and lift a board or melt a LED. Reach up to rub my head in frustration and accidentally tap my forehead with the tip. THAT is a bad moment in your life. You HEAR a sizzle and your brain is trying to figure out what that noise is but it is being assulted by a flurry of impulses saying BAD BAD BAD DO SOMETHING.
The good news is that the actual spot you hit with the iron doesn't hurt because you have burned the ever living crap out the nerves in that spot. The bad news is that all the surrounding tissue is pretty pissed about the burn/iron thing and is looking for ways to steam more pain into your brain.
Not a good day.
thanks for posting the DYI Bac Ta. I am going order mine and give it ago. i build circuit boards daily, and have to deal with LED's all the time. i wont have it done for a while but it should be a fun project!
how goes it Bryce? Get started yet? My LED's should be in tomorrow. I just removed one of the really small ones to see how hard it would be. Not to bad to come off. We'll see how much fun they are to put back on though.
