just installed k&n 66 series cold air intake. Followed directions step by step. Everything looks connected. Truck won't fire up! What gives? Any ideas?

Is the MAF installed facing the right direction? It is easy to install them backwards, and if that is the case, the engine won't run.

Yeah, thanks Jim. I finally figured that out this morning after going back through the direction Thanks!

Glad to hear that was the problem! Nothing quite as nice as a simple fix.

Yes, my local dealership had some idiot mess with the MAF as part of a 19-point inspection during an oil change. At least mine ran but then idiot lights started flashing on the freeway. I took it back and their lead tech diagnosed someone was mechanically inept in something I had properly installed prior to taking it in for the most basic service possible.

get a volant lol thats what i have and i like it alot did you connect your air sensor?

I had no issues until the idiots at the dealership touched it. They are just stupid, didn't pay attention to the direction of the mass air flow sensor, and I didn't realize that's what they tampered with during the oil change to cause the idiot lights to go off. No reason to get rid of what works well! =) Just more reasons why I never go to the dealer.

I've been having my AFE for over a year and no issues. As a matter of fact I drove down to West Palm Beach from Jax over 300 miles at 60mph and got 23.7mpg. I had over 3/8th tank left. Coming back I drove 55mph and got 24.9mpg. It went to 25mpg twice but fell off due to going over an overpass.

One of these days I'll learn what it's like to drive at a steady 60 MPH without wanting to fall asleep. Til then, 18 MPG is fine with me. =) The routes I take on I-10, I'd get creamed trying to cruise at 60 when the speed limit is 80.

Where on I-10 is the speed limit 80? And you will get creamed doing 60 on I-10.

Most of New Mexico and then remote areas in AZ.

Sounds, hot and dry.

Fortunately I'm always driving through at night. It's some boring @$$ terrain so they do a great job bumping that speed limit to get you the heck out of there.
