First I have to get it back to the dealer. Only had the truck almost a year.
I have been seeing these little rust spots all over the truck. Do you think they will give me a problem on not redoing paint.
Also when you are going more than 40mph and have to hit the breaks it sounds like the bottom of the truck is going to fall out. Bad sound and rumbling.
Any suggestions?

Get it back to the dealer as you are still under the warrenty. Are the rust spots from defects in the paint or rock chips or the such? As for the brakes, they might not be under the warrenty. It depends on what the problem is. Get it checked out in any case. Another thought: are the brake pads worn down to the metal? That will certainly cause all sorts of bad sounds.

Hey man thanks. no the rust is all over the tail gate and looks like little round dots. After looking over the truck I see they are in the sides as well. The brakes better not be down to the metal already I still new I only have 25k on the truck. But yes I need to get her in.

Take it back to the dealer and if they give you any problems, just callthe Toyota 1-800 # and file a complaint.

Ok the dealer said its nothing that they will take care of on the paint.
The one guy I talked too said I had to take someone hire up then him for a ride to show him the brakes. So as soon as I can get the time again and when he is there I will be looking into that.
Thanks ya'all

Sorry to hear about your paint. My 07' Tundra is having the rust spotted front and rear bumpers replaced at only 21,000 miles next week thru Toyota under warranty. I have about 12 or so rust spots I noticed after this winter and Toyota will replace both bumpers for free, but not the 10 to 15 lug nuts showing rust spots - go figure? Also, for all Toyota Tundra owners, my serpentine belt has over 20 cracks thru the ribbed side in one area and will also be replaced under warranty. I noticed it while checking the oil a few days ago and want to make sure all 07' on up tundra owners check their belt for cracks before the 36,000 mile warranty is up to get it replaced for showing cracks. I cannot believe a new truck's belts only last 21,000 miles/2 years and probably a lot less than that since the cracks were probably there for awhile before I noticed them.

Mike,

Thanks for the heads up concerning the belt. I am glad to hear that your bumpers are going to be replaced. Did you go to Hesser? If so, who did you deal with? When they replaced my rear bumper, I had them spray some undercoating on the inside of the bumper. I used to live up there in the great state of WI. I just had the front differential and left front axle replaced. Now it is running like a champ. I am going out to check my belt right now.

Greg,

All I did was send about 12 pics of my rust spots on both bumpers and my selling dealer, not Hesser, sent the pics to Toyota. I will be getting both bumpers replaced next week. Toyota will replace two $500.00 bumpers but when asked about my 10-15 lug nuts having rust spots, they will only clean them and polish them to remove rust spots, not replace them - go figure? I will make sure all rust spots are removed from all lug nuts before I leave along with asking them about spraying an undercoating on the inside of the bumpers. As far as the belt is concerned, check the ribbed side of the belt for cracks and I just got lucky to see that area since most of the ribbed side of the belt cannot be seen. You will have to start the engine and shut if off 5-10 times to check different spots on the belt that show the ribbed side. I also read on another Tundra website about a service bulletin on the belt cracking being caused by a faulty tensioner and that will also be asked at the dealer next week to see if the tensioner is bad causing the premature cracks all over that area of my belt. I'm going to ask them to see if the belt really needs replacing now with only 21K and if not, see if I can let it go before next winter with about 32K on the belt since if I have to replace the belt every 2 years and 21K, I might as well get it replaced once right before my warranty expires at 36K. Only 2 years and 21K on a belt is terrible. Belts should last 4 years and 50K at least before replacing, if not 80K. The replaced belt, rusted bumpers, driver's seat (popped while driving) and driver's door panel (poor fit) are not what I was expecting when buying a Toyota. I thought Toyota stood for quality, not quantity of replaced parts? I also read an article that Toyota's overall quality on their vehicles has decreased the past few years while the big 3's quality has improved to near Toyota and Honda quality and reliability. If I had to have the front differential and left front axle replaced like you Greg, that will be it for Toyota.
