I have heard that you can put 17 rims on the new tundra. Does anyone know if that is true and if so can you tell me what brands fit? Someone told me that they put some 17's on there tundra but they had too cut part of the caliper. i want to avoid doing that. My reason for wanting to put 17's rims on my truck is because tires are less expensive. Super swamper makes 34/10.50/17 Cost about $160 each.

I don't like red trucks (sorry to those of you that own one) but that's a helluva nice looking red beast! Should have chromed out the grill though or made it match the bumper.

That is a beautiful BEAST> Does anyone know the actual size of the tires? I know it is a 17R, but what are the other dimensions? I really like the tall side wall look. I 'm not a fan of low profile for Trucks.

There's an easier way... Befriend the owner of your local tire dealer... I got a set of 275/70/18 Toyo Open Country A/T for $138 =D from a former college roommate who's family owns a tire service station

If i remember correctly the show truck listed below was specially fitted for those 17's. But i can be wrong, also there really is no cheaper way to get below the TRD 18's. Setting my truck up for the way i wanted it to keep it offroad ready and beach ready the cheapest way around it was a ToyTec Lift and Level, 305/65/18R BFG A/T and the factory rims.

Lift: Check ToyTec Website (i DIY'd the lift, hard as fuck without a wall mount hydralic press)
Tires: 1500 for 4
Rims: Was smart enough to get TRD from the dealer.
Satisfaction: 100% Complete.

Trips Completed: Outback trails down Undoolya rd., Alice Springs, AUS, & Route 12,Corolla Beach, NC.
Bragging Rites: THE ONLY TUNDRA in Australia & Never been stuck (self)awardee.

Beautiful Truck Michael. I like how you are using the stock TRD 18s. Now come the questions.
Do you know of the width size for the stock TRD 18s? I have the same truck but concern of the stock rims are too narrow for the 305/65/18.
Did you have to use a spacer for the front A arm swing bar? A tech at my local 4wheels store said that a taller tire would raise the bar, therefore rubbing. He suggested a spacer.

What is your advice on this? What is the ride like as compare to the stock 275/65/18's?

Thanks

If you do a 3/1 lift the, 305/65/18s will fit with just a skid plate trim. I am using stock 8" TRD rims. Check out my pics.

How to read tire sizes, for example 305/65/18"

305 is the width of thr tire in millimeters

65 is the height of the sidewall as a pecentage of the width 305 X .65 = 198.25

18 is the diameter of the rim in inches

The 8" I was refering to was the width of the rim.

Your welcome
